When certain Mixels attempt to combine, the process doesn’t always succeed. Instead of forming a Mix, or even a Max[1], they might accidentally create a Murp: a weird, uncontrollable, and sometimes even dangerous fusion. Murps rarely offer any practical advantage and are typically seen as undesirable outcomes.
There’s no consistent cause for a Murp. They often occur when one or more Mixels are stressed, startled, or caught off guard while using a Cubit. However, Murps can also happen seemingly at random, even when the Mixels are fully willing to mix[2][3]. According to the Narrator[4], a Murp results from an improperly-executed Mix. Still, when one does occur, it can sometimes be undone without needing to split. By using a Cubit on itself, the Murp may reform into a proper Mix, although it can just as easily turn into a differently designed Murp.[3]
In terms of appearance, LEGO and Season 1 Murps often lack distinguishing features that set them apart from regular Mixes. The key difference lies in their powers, which tend to be harmful, either to themselves, like the Flain & Krader Murp, or to others, like the Scorpi & Glurt Murp. These Murps usually have a limited vocabulary, often saying only the word “Murp.”
On the other hand, Season 2 had a more distinct and consistent depiction of Murps. They appear with a messier design, featuring Mixel parts scattered all over their bodies, often appearing useless and sometimes immobile. Unlike earlier Murps, however, they seem to remain self-aware and are sometimes able to form safe and understandable sentences.
In some media, the term Murp is used more loosely. On the Mixels website and in Calling All Mixels, it can refer to a failed Mix attempt where two incompatible Mixels don’t combine at all, instead, the process causes an explosion that repels anyone nearby. In Every Knight Has Its Day, a Murp can also result when a Mixel is hit by a Cubit Ball during a game of Murpball, scattering their parts, making them resemble a Season 2 Murp.

Trivia
- The Flain & Krader Murp has appeared the most out of all of the other murps, appearing in two episodes.
- Some descriptions of the episode Murp use the term "Mux" instead of "Murp". This is possibly an early name for Murps.[5]
- In 2016, each series featured only one LEGO Murp design.
- No Murps appeared in the series finale, marking Every Knight Has Its Day as the final episode containing Murps.
- If Murps formed from a single Mixel are counted, Every Knight Has Its Day would be the episode with the most Murps. Otherwise, Mixel Moon Madness takes that spot, featuring three Murps.
- In Mixels Rush, all Murps share the same base model as the Slumbo & Kraw Murp, but differ in their colors, arms, legs, and heads.
