Mixels from a variety of different tribes gathering together.
A tribe is a categorization that groups Mixels according to a shared theme, such as an element, occupation, or other defining traits. Every Mixel belongs to a tribe, and it is one of the key characteristics that contributes to their diversity.
Overview
Aspects
Mixel tribes are based around different themes, such as elements, occupations, and other items. Tribes from Mixel Land are largely based around elements: some Mixel Land tribes explore non-traditional elements such as rubber, slime, and magic, seen in the Flexers, Glorp Corp, and Wiztastics respectively. Others focused more on distinct traits rather than elemental themes, such as teeth and spikes in the Fang Gang and Spikels, which still loosely connect to elements like wood and sand. Mixel tribes of Mixel Land have simpler color schemes, often being based solely around one primary color.
Tribes from other regions, such as Outer Space, are themed around more unique aspects: such as space exploration and tongues, seen in the Orbitons and Lixers respectively. Mixopolis-based tribes are based almost solely on occupations, such as police work, the medical field, and waste sanitation, seen in the MCPD, Medix, and Trashoz respectively. These tribes often have more complex color schemes and appearances than Mixel Land tribes.
Powers and unique traits
The Electroids' innate ability to discharge electricity.
Tribes often have distinct features found commonly in Mixels belonging to them. For example, the Klinkers Gox, Jinky and Kamzo all feature gears found somewhere on their bodies, while the Newzers Camsta and Myke both brandish the logo of Mix TV on their bodies.
Tribes are based around singular themes, with each of these themes sometimes granting Mixels of the tribe special powers. For example, Infernites are often able to expel flames or heat, as seen with Zorch, while Glowkies have bioluminescent eyes. These powers and abilities are combined, amplified, or exaggerated during combinations.
Homes and population
Many Munchos present at a party in Muncho Land.
Each Mixel tribe has a homeland, many of which are found in Mixel Land. For example, the Glorp Corp reside in swamplands. Tribal homelands are often themed around the tribe itself, with features suited to their living conditions, such as the lava slides and baths found in Infernite Land. Mixel tribes found in Mixopolis have various buildings and locations where they reside, such as the Police Station and Mixopolis Harbor. Although many tribes have their own homelands, Mixels hailing from all tribes reside in Mixopolis.
Mixels within tribes are commonly found in trios, usually involving their leader or a Mixel with leadership qualities. Cousins of these trios can be found in the Infernites, Frosticons and Glorp Corp. Tribes have no set population, and some tribes have been depicted with many other Mixels populating them.

Tribal leaders
A common aspect among most tribes is the presence of leaders, Mixels regarded as the most mature and significant among all members of their tribe.
Confirmed leaders
These are leaders whose leadership status has either been hinted at in their character descriptions or directly confirmed through the show.
| Name | Image | Tribe | Confirmation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flain |
|
Infernites | Some of his character descriptions[1][2] label him as the adventurous leader, likely due to his intelligence. He has helped other tribal leaders gather more Hamlogna Sandwiches for the Mix Festival and restore its colors.[3] Additionally, LEGO confirmed via email that Flain is the leader of the tribe as a whole, including their cousins, not just his trio.[4] While ambiguous, that same email potentially suggests that Flain may also be the leader of the entire Mixels species. |
| Krader |
|
Cragsters | Some of his character descriptions[5][6] describe Krader as “as close to a leader as the Cragsters have,” which, while not explicit, strongly suggests his leadership within the tribe, likely due to his toughness. In addition, he assisted the other leaders in saving the Mix Festival, which ultimately succeeded thanks to his ideas.[3] |
| Teslo |
|
Electroids | When the Mix Festival ran out of Hamlogna Sandwiches, Teslo explicitly referred to himself as the leader of the Electroids[3] before tasking the other leaders with assisting him in saving the party. Additionally, some of his character descriptions[7][8][9][10] state that he is always chosen to be the lookout for his tribe. Furthermore, he appears to be the most educated of his trio, as he taught and guided Zaptor and Volectro on how to change a light bulb.[11] |
| Flurr |
|
Frosticons | Some of his character descriptions[12][13][14][10] state that he is the leader of the Frosticons, as he is the most “awake” and never seems to be sleepy, making him the leader of the tribe by default. He also joined the other leaders on their quest to save the Mix Festival.[3] While never stated directly, it can be inferred by analogy that he may be the leader of the entire tribe, including their cousins, similar to how Flain is the leader of all the Infernites.[4] |
| Jawg |
|
Fang Gang | Despite not joining the other leaders in saving the Mix Festival,[3] some of his character descriptions[15][16][17][10] deliberately label him as the leader of the Fang Gang, describing him as the fiercely loyal and energetic leader of the group who would stop at nothing to protect and help his quirky Mixel tribe. |
| Gobba |
|
Fang Gang | Despite never having an official statement confirming him as the leader of the Fang Gang, he still went to help the other leaders save the Mix Festival after Teslo explicitly requested assistance from other tribal leaders.[3] As his presence was neither questioned nor addressed, this suggests that he is a viable candidate for leadership of the tribe. |
| Kraw |
|
Flexers | Some of his character descriptions[18][19][20][10] label Kraw as the leader of the Flexers, seemingly due to his strength, confidence, and high elasticity. He also assisted the other leaders in saving the Mix Festival.[3] |
| Glomp |
|
Glorp Corp | Some of his character descriptions[21] label Glomp as the leader of the Glorp Corp. While never stated directly, it can be inferred by analogy that he may be the leader of the entire tribe, including their cousins, similar to how Flain is the leader of all the Infernites.[4] |
| Scorpi |
|
Spikels | Some of his character descriptions[22] label Scorpi as the leader of the Spikels, presumably due to his cuteness. |
| Magnifo |
|
Wiztastics | While not directly labeled as the leader, both Mesmo and Wizwuz were referred to as Magnifo’s “assistants” throughout several character descriptions,[23][24][25][26][27] which indirectly places him in a position of higher authority. This is further supported in the show, where Magnifo acts as the main performer of the Wiztastics show and has his face featured prominently on promotional posters.[28] Other character descriptions[29][30][10] additionally portray him as super-confident, as well as the smartest and most serious of the Wiztastics, who “puts loads of energy into every show.” |
| Niksput |
|
Orbitons | Some of his character descriptions[31][32][33] label Niksput to have the charm and bravado of a leading man, which, while not explicit, suggests his leadership within the tribe. This is further supported when Rokit called out for his help and referred to him as “sir” when the Glowkies were mistaken for threateners while visiting their neighbors.[34] After which, Niksput arrived enthusiastically, spoke on behalf of his tribe, and suggested to Max in order to defeat the intruders. Although this did not go as planned, it still strongly suggests his leadership within the tribe. |
| Gox |
|
Klinkers | Some of his character descriptions[35][33] label Gox as a tycoon of privilege who expects to be treated like royalty by pretty much everyone. While not a direct confirmation, this implies that he possesses wealth, power, and control over his company. He is also referred to by his coworkers, Jinky and Kamzo, as “sir,” “boss,” and “titan of the Klinkerton Klinker dynasty,” which strongly suggests his leadership within the tribe.[36] |
| Kramm |
|
Weldos | Some of his character descriptions[37][38][33] label Kramm as the lovely boss, foreman, and leader of the Weldos, seemingly due to being the most energetic, enthusiastic, and super-efficient member, who expects everyone on the team to work hard. |
| Sergeant |
|
MCPD | With his name confirmed by Kuffs and the credits,[39] he is a sergeant, a police rank and supervisory position that may command police officers during particular shifts, as shown when he ordered Kuffs, Busto, and Tiketz to handle a Mixeloptor outbreak case after receiving the report. This makes him the de facto leader of the MCPD and suggests that he may outrank Officer Kuffs. |
| Kuffs |
|
MCPD | Some of his character descriptions[40][41] label Kuffs as the leader and “top cop” of the MCPD, seemingly due to his higher experience and high arrest record, further supported by Tiketz being a fresh graduate from the MCPD Academy and Busto being too nice, often allowing prisoners to talk their way to freedom, which gets him into trouble with Kuffs himself. That said, Kuffs’s leadership does not appear to extend beyond his trio, as Sergeant seems to hold higher authority over the group.[39] |
| King |
|
Medivals | He is the current king and leader of the Medivals, with his high status widely recognized among Mixels.[39] At some point in the future, his throne will be inherited by his son, Camillot. |
| Camillot |
|
Medivals | While not currently a leader, Camillot is strongly implied to be the next Medival leader, as he is the son of the King.[39] This is the main reason he was sent to Mixopolis Middle School, in order to Mix with common Mixels so that his leadership qualities would rise to the fore. He is often referred to as “royal” in some of his character descriptions[42][43] and by other Mixels, and is said to have servants who take care of every aspect of his life. |
| Fire Chief |
|
MCFD | With his name confirmed by Splasho and the credits,[44] he is a fire chief, a high-ranking executive and commanding position within a fire department that may manage and command firefighters, as shown when he attempted to convince Splasho, Aquad, and Hydro to Max in order to save a Mixie Cat from a burning building. This makes him the de facto leader of the MCFD and suggests that he may outrank Splasho. |
| Splasho |
|
MCFD | Some of his character descriptions[45][46] label Splasho as the leader and commander of the MCFD, seemingly due to his fast decision-making and possession of a powerful jet ideal for extinguishing the biggest fires. That said, Splasho’s leadership does not appear to extend beyond his trio, as Fire Chief seems to hold higher authority over the group.[44] |
| Sharx |
|
Pyrratz | Some of his character descriptions[47] label Sharx as the captain of the Pyrratz, a title traditionally given to pirate leaders. He is also said to be the most enthusiastic member of the group. |
| Surgeo |
|
Medix | Some of his character descriptions[48][49] label Surgeo as the leader of the Medix, seemingly due to him being the most energetic and enthusiastic member of the group, who never sleeps, lives for the sound of the emergency bell, and is always equipped and ready to perform an operation. |
| Mysto |
|
Nindjas | Some of his character descriptions[50][51] label Mysto as the master of the ancient ninja arts and the silent leader of the Nindjas, seemingly due to his wisdom and impressive warrior skills. |
| Screeno |
|
Newzers | Some of his character descriptions[52][53] label Screeno as a director, writer, producer, and reporter of Mix TV, suggesting he is the leader of the Newzers. This is further supported by his face being the only one prominently featured on the channel, whereas Camsta and Myke work behind the scenes.[44] |
Possible leaders
These are leaders whose leadership status has not been addressed in any official sources, but who nevertheless display leadership qualities without necessarily being the definitive leaders of their tribes.
| Name | Image | Tribe | Interpretation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Globert |
|
Glowkies | Globert has not been explicitly confirmed as a leader in any official sources. However, he appears to display certain leadership qualities, such as speaking on behalf of his tribe when introducing themselves to the Orbitons and Infernites cousins.[34] He also acts as the lead performer and vocalist of "Don't Pull The Plug!" |
| Vaka-Waka |
|
Munchos | Vaka-Waka has not been explicitly confirmed as a leader in any official sources. However, during the quest to find the Mixamajig, he appears to have the most dialogue within his trio and displays certain leadership qualities, such as speaking on behalf of his tribe when introducing themselves to the Glorp Corp cousins.[36] As such, his leadership status remains open to interpretation. If this interpretation is correct and both cannot be leaders, Vaka would appear more likely to hold a higher position of authority, as some of his character descriptions[54][55][33] note that he is in charge of food input, while Waka handles the output, whether he likes it or not. |
| Jamzy |
|
Mixies | Jamzy has not been explicitly confirmed as a leader in any official sources. However, he appears to display certain leadership qualities, such as acting as the lead singer of his group on some occasions.[56][57] He is also labeled as a “superstar” in some of his character descriptions,[58] which suggests he is the most famous, successful, and talented member of the trio. |
Exceptional cases
- Fang Gang: This is the only instance where two members, Gobba and Jawg, are supported by official sources as candidates for leadership, creating a contradiction.[3]
- Lixers: Following the reveal of the 2015 Mixels, both the Klinkers and Lixers lacked a known leader for some time. When LEGO was initially asked via email, they stated that “they haven’t picked a leader yet.”[59] With the premiere of The Quest for the Lost Mixamajig, the Klinkers would go on to receive a confirmed leader, whereas the Lixers did not. This is largely attributed to their animalistic behavior, which leaves them without a developed language to indicate a leader. As a result, some fans speculated that the Lixers have no leader at all due to their primitive nature, and this claim was later added to the Wiki without a source. When LEGO was asked again, they affirmed that the Lixers do not have a leader “because the Lixers are so primitive.”[60] Given their earlier lack of a definitive answer, it is possible that LEGO later adopted this interpretation as truth, thereby making it canon. However, it remains unclear whether this was the case or just a coincidence.
- MCPD and MCFD: These are the only instances of tribes having multiple leaders coexisting simultaneously. This is due to their rank-based structure, where one member is officially designated as the leader of the department, while another is recognized as the leader of their trio.[39]
- Medivals: This is the only instance where leadership is explicitly shown to change over time. The King is presented as the current leader, while Camillot is implied to be his future successor.[39]
- Trashoz: This is one of the cases where a tribe has no officially confirmed leader. While most tribes feature at least one member displaying leadership qualities in their appearances, the Trashoz lack sufficient screen time and dialogue for any individual to stand out. LEGO has been asked about this on multiple occasions, but has not deliberately confirmed a leader to this day.[61]
Set information
An example of a LEGO Mixels display box, featuring complete sets of the three tribes in a series.
Each wave of the LEGO series features three trios of Mixels, with each belonging to a different tribe. 2014 and 2016 waves feature three unique tribes each - totalling at nine per year - while 2015 waves feature two unique tribes and one expansion of existing 2014 tribes. Tribes act as one of the theme’s main selling points, as collecting all three Mixels from a tribe allows them to be combined into a Max.
A display box of a LEGO Mixels series features 30 sets, with four complete sets of the primary tribe in a series and three complete sets of the other two tribes in a series.[62]
Incidental Mixels were not released as part of any LEGO wave's tribes.
Trivia
- Nixels, unlike Mixels, do not have tribes and do not display as much diversity, with many appearing as near-identical clones of each other. King Nixel and Major Nixel serve as their leaders.
- During the keyhole congregation scene in The Quest for the Lost Mixamajig, four magenta-colored Mixels appeared, though their tribe remains unknown. Their unfamiliar colors could have derived from an error or lack of color references. It's possible that they could be Munchos or Infernites.
